Marine Ecology: Marine Protected Areas

Some people may not know what is living in their back yard. Getting local people to help you and get involved in locating crabs for instance that may or may not be in the area. It may be that they are easier for people who are in and around the area to give input regarding invasive species or how many of a particular species may be in an area It can be used to monitor the life on certain areas and to monitor the loss of other species that may have low reproductive rates. Habitat restoration, conservation and other methods can be used to help preserve the environment. Not buying coral products, or cutting down on harvesting of stocks that are not very sustainable are examples of this.
For this particular version, where were are protecting fish, ensuring that people are here to support this effort, you have to start with an education. You have to be sure that everyone is aware of the need to practice good conservation efforts. Taking are of the environment, directing individuals to consume sustainably caught seafood and being conscientious of what you buy is one stop. Save gas and it will in  turn help reduce the effects of global warming on sea water. Directing people to save on electricity, dispose of hazards correctly, recycle and reduce plastic, keeping clean and taking the effort to be involved ad informed is one step. This may involve having new opinions on how the ocean is treated. Artificial reefs are another tip this can be done to give animals a place to live. This may concentrate the animals in one place making them easier to catch, though.
Helping to reduce the stress of hurricanes and other effects on the sand dunes of beaches, and to ensure that the waters nearby are not overflowed with sediment can be done. This means that you could make efforts to help rebuild the area. Holdfasts may be used to attach young giant kept o concreate blocks to help restore kelp forests. These are examples of some of the steps that can be taken to help recuperate the area, and they could be used to help ensure the local area has what is needed for production.
Conservation is one of the major things, which may mean going and talking to local groups. You can ensure that local coastal management is there to help with situations such as beach access and tourism which can damage delicate ecosystems. Sustainable fishing, biodiversity management and habitat conservation are all very important. Restricting what is able to spill over from the surrounding waters, or what is able to come in for the land around the water is also one step. This may mean restricting the use of certain chemicals for instance around oceanic areas. Having a good website, internet activity on public sites, infomraiton available on webpages. I would see about grouping with other local non profits for information and advertising.
