Public Health and Infectious Disease Discussion 5

When considering what would be important in the case of a zoonotic outbreak such as Malaria for instance, there are a few considerations. I would make an effort to ensure that people couldn’t get it by addressing the situation and tracking it quickly. It was transmitted to people by animals, so I would find out which animals it was. Finding out that the culprit was rodents we would put out notices to the public, spray for ticks and other bloodborne parasites. Tropical disease such as malaria can be spread from parasites. You can address it if it is local but if infected somewhere else it can be harder to catch.
Malaria would immediately be reported. It can be detected and so once found would be addressed. I would contact public health as soon as it it was discovered to be transmittable and we would find ways to ensure that it couldn’t be passed along to anyone else.  Would find efforts to ensure that there were coverage that the media would be educated and people would be trained on how to wear masks and avoid the public.
